Bonjour! Hello! It’s nice to meet you. I’m Crystal, the storyteller behind this site.

For as long as I can remember I have been telling stories. As a little girl, I’d run outside and slip between the two trees that stood side-by-side at the bottom of our deck into my own little world and make up all kind of stories in the woods behind my house. It didn’t take long before I started to write down my fiction and, eventually, I began to tell my own story through poetry and my blog.

I believe stories have power.

How many little girls found some of their best friends in The Babysitter’s Club? Or went on adventures with Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys? How many children have found a home at Hogwarts? The stories we read can provide a safe space. They can provide the escape that we sometimes need from our day-to-day lives. They can also show us a new perspective in life when we read about characters that aren’t like us. And they can even help us learn more about ourselves. Fictional stories can make all the difference.

And then there’s our everyday Real Life. There are so many beautiful and amazing things about our world, but life… it can be hard. It can also feel so lonely. But when we share our stories, we see that we’re not alone, and we can connect with those around us. And that can make all the difference.

Because of their power I truly believe that we can change the world, one story at a time.

Many stories matter. Stories have been used to dispossess and to malign. But stories can also be used to empower, and to humanize. Stories can break the dignity of a people. But stories can also repair that broken dignity.
